From D1Baseball.com this morning: • Player of the Day: Ohio’s Spencer Harbert
It’s impossible to have a better day than Ohio slugger Spencer Harbert. The 6-foot-2, 215-pounder had an afternoon to remember in a dominant win over Milwaukee. He started the bashing in the first inning with a two-run home run. He smacked a three-run home run to right field in the fifth inning before hitting yet another home run in the sixth — this time, it was a grand slam. Harbert added another RBI via a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning. The total line for the third-year player? He went 3-for-4 with 10 … yes, 10 RBIs. Talk about having a good day at the plate.

Wow, just Wow! That’s incredible! Could this be an NCAA record?

Answer my own question. Nowhere near close:

Marshall McDougall’s 16-RBIs in a game — May 9, 1999

When the dust settled in this memorable game, Florida State defeated Maryland 26-2. Sixteen of those runs came off the bat of second baseman Marshall McDougall. He started off the day with a base hit and then blasted six home runs in his next six at-bats — also the NCAA single-game record — and powered his way past LaFountain’s mark of 14-RBI in a single game with his 7-for-7 day.

Didn't see it, but apparently the sac fly was a deep fly ball with the bases load, and perhaps a few extra feet and he would have had 4 home runs and 13 RBIs. Joe Rock also followed up his no-hitter by giving up no runs on 5 hits with 12 strikeouts in 6 innings.

Bobcats went on to sweep in the four-game series against Milwaukee with 3-1 and 6-4 wins Saturday and a 3-2 win today. Hitting didn't continue but pitching was good all weekend. Rock has a 1.00 ERA with 30 strikeouts in 18 innings.

The wind was blowing out and may have aided at least one, maybe two...but still, damn. I remember a few years ago a college player hit for the home run cycle. Solo, 2 run, 3 run, and grand slam...all in one game. Harbert was not far off from this.
