There are a ton of hats sold at various stores in Athens. You can’t buy an official baseball hat worn on field anywhere to my knowledge. Is there any way to get an on-field style hat?

College bookstore has had them in the past but I don't think they had them in stock last time I was there...pre-covid so they could have restocked since then.

Do you know the history of this "crooked O"? Seems I heard this story in the distant past, but I can't remember any details. Can you refresh my memory?

You realize that the O used is the same O in arched Ohio, it’s just standing by itself without the HIO

Thanks, BTC. I’d heard that in the past, but had forgotten. Thanks for the memory jog. Just what I needed.

Prior to Smith, we had to wear hats without the crooked O. Thought it was strange that the jerseys had the arch OHIO font but the hat didn't.

We don't exactly have a great logo/font to put on a baseball hat so I'm not sure what a better option would be. Maybe the entire arch OHIO? Idk

Surprised the Evil Empire didn't slap him with a law suit.

Our 80's lids were black, white sewn on backdrop with green O over the white backdrop. Looked awesome and would love to have it back. Similar to the pictured hat with Coach Kappes during football season 1960 celebration of the small school National Champs.

I actually thought the hats towards the end of Carbones era were sweet. I still have 3 of the styles but they are pretty much worn out.

As a "Rook," I had to sell replica hats before every home football game for $5. They were ugly green, mesh adjustable hats. Not for me but I would sell them out in less than an hour. Box after box.

It always amazed me the quality of hat selection was less than average most years (in the book stores). I have not been down to campus in a year but it was at an all time low during my last visit.

I'm a baseball hat snob. Fitted - 6 panel - 8 seams. I do think you could get $30-$40 for a premium OHIO lid. I'd pay it and I know a bunch of alumni that would too.

If you sold those hats in the late 80's, I bought one and loved it.

I know 15 people who'd buy a fitted official baseball hat right now.
