With the lack of depth at the big league level, Mitch has a real chance at making an impression within the scouting department. This year will be crucial for him and if he can out perform his peers in Akron, we may see him in Columbus at some point.

After a so-so season last year, Mitch is off to a strong start, batting .333 through 4-10 for the Ducks. Same story for Mitch as it's been his entire professional career: Trying to make up for a lack of power with a keen eye at the plate, keeping Ks down and BBs up, and using his better than average speed.

This is a make or break year in some respects. After this season, the Tribe must decide whether to place Mitch on the 40 man roster or risk losing him in the Rule 5 draft.

Unfortunately after an injury May 2, Mitch has been struggling since returning. On the season he is batting .239 with just 1 HR (and just 5 extra base hits). An OPS of .657 is a big dropoff from his previous seasons.

Do we know what his injury was?

He's at .266/.342/.395/.737 with about a month to go in the minor league season. He slumped a lot in late June but has picked it up again.

Longo finished .248/.320/.370 on the season with five home runs in 327 at-bats. Pretty up-and-down season. He had only one hit in his last seven games.

While not on the 40 man roster, Mitch has been invited to the Indians' major league spring training camp.
