Huge response by the Cats after the home run derby against Morehead - huge pitching performance from Luke Olson who pitched a shutout performance with only two hits given up - 2 run homer from Nick Dolan and solo HR from Alec Pitino. Let's get two more W's!

I was just lamenting about how Ohio's offense had to overcome poor pitching. This was just what the Bobcats needed.

Ohio trailing 7-2 going into 9th inning in Saturday's game before putting 6 runs on the board for an 8-7 win.

And another sweep, finished off with a 5-2 victory. A great start from Trent Spoon. Toledo is a good hitting team, so it was even more impressive to have two really good outings in the series.

A long way to go yet, but the top four in the MAC really have separated so far: Ball State 10-2, Kent State 9-3, Ohio 11-4, Central Michigan 8-4. After that, Western Michigan is 6-6. The rest of the league is 6-9 or worse. After facing Miami next weekend, the Bobcats have a non-league weekend (Indiana) and then play Kent State, Ball State and Western Michigan before closing with Akron.

well it just feels good to humble Toledo at something after football and hoops season.

I said it in a different thread but holding the opponent to 7 runs or less is the key for this squad. An 11-4 start to conference play is seriously impressive. Has Ohio had a better start than that in the last 20 years?

That being said, the schedule ramps up here with Ball St and Kent. Two teams we will need to beat in the tournament.

Very excited about the Olson & Spoon starts. The search for a #3 starter continues and I once again wonder if Jacob Tate should get a crack at it. He got the win yesterday throwing 5 innings in relief...I feel like this has happened 2 or 3 other times. Let's give him the ball and see how deep he can go in the game from the get-go.

If we can sweep Miami at home we can start talking about a regular season title. Pretty crazy. Love it.
