Was present in Wren today to see the Bobcats take on MHS, and that was probably one of the worst team pitching performances I have seen in my time watching baseball. Mercy ruled in 7th inning 15-2. Went through 6 pitchers in 7 innings which I thought was extremely odd after Tyler Peck and Zach Weber had solid stints pitching but were pulled for some reason? Shake off this one and onto Toledo.

Welcome to mid-week, non-league baseball. It's pitching by committee.

Unfortunately this outcome against this opponent was very predictable. I knew we would most like give up 10+ runs (as BTC pointed out, this was always going to be a Johnny Wholestaff game).

Its clear we have a serious pitching problem. 15 runs in 9 innings is bad, 15 runs in 7 is down right embarrassing.

These midweek games mean little to nothing when its all said and done but I am very concerned about the state of our bullpen moving forward.

Some serious scouting/recruiting efforts need to be focused on pitching or it won't matter how many runs we score.

I caught about 1/2 inning on the live stream, but that was enough to witness an Ohio baserunner score from 2nd base after tagging up on a long flyout to center field. Made me long for the days of Billy Hamilton playing for the Cincinnati Reds.

You could have seen him playing for Charlotte yesterday against the Clippers. he used his legs en route to a nice bunt single early in the game.

Didn't Ohio give up 19 runs to Morehead recently?

Morehead State is a good offensive team, but Ohio's pitching is pretty poor, and it's really bad after the top few guys. Hopefully it can improve at least a little because the offense has been good enough to win pretty often despite the bad pitching.
