We signed 7 players this fall to come to Ohio in the fall of 2011.

I just have one question, is our budget for sending our coaches to scout dwindling or something? 

Out of the 7, 2 are from North Allegheny High School, 2 are from Holy Name High School, another went to school with someone we already have on the team (Ethan Newton).

Its like if we go somewhere, we just sign multiple guys, because we can't afford to go anywhere else.  At least that's how it appears looking at the location of these players.


Reading the little blurbs about each player they sound ok, except Brice Nikithser.  says  "Nikithser hit .313 with three home runs and 17 RBIs as a junior".  Maybe they play like 10 games in PA, I'm not quite sure being from Ohio, but those stats are like a mediocre week in high school.  .313 BA in high school?  really? To put that .313 in perspective, , another recruit, Jon Kemmer is hitting .727 (which is ridiculously high, which would call this into question).

Stats in baseball recruiting are close to worthless. It's about tools and projection. This is says a lot about Brice:
"Preseason Perfect Game All-American, a Preseason Under Armour All-American as a junior and again as a senior"

Perfect Game and Under Amour are two of the premier HS All-American teams in the country, just below AFLAC.

The kid is obviously very talented if he has been selected for those teams.

I'm guessing he was actually All-Region, not All-American.  However the All-Region link isn't working today.  Here is the All-American list:  http://www.perfectgame.org/all_americans/2010/allamerica....

2011 hasn't happened yet.  So seems to me that hasn't happened yet.

On his Perfect Game profile, it says:
2010 Underclass High Honorable Mention

Also says it on his team's website:

Not sure if it's All-American or Region. Either way, it's still a great award and it's clear these talent evaluators are high on him.

Can't find anything about UA either, interesting. But from everything I've read, he is a great prospect for Ohio to get.

that's the list, but I can't find his name anywhere.  Yea, i saw that on his profile too, but strange he isn't on the list.

He's a big boy so we'll see how he does.

My guess is he was injured and missed a good portion of the season.

There is no relation between Zach and Logan.  Logan also is an Under Armour All American and just got back from Tucson on Monday.  He is on the list that was updated as of 1/5/2011 and can be found on the baseball factory website.  Looking forward to Bobcat Baseball.

First of all, Nikithser playes at North Allegheny high school, the best AAAA program and the premier program in PA. They played 24 games last year including playoffs. A .313 average is superb for a power hitter at this quality of competiton. North Allegheny's home field is 450 ft to center field and 400 to each pole. I'm not sure how someone could expect many more than 3 homeruns. Saying that Jon Kemmer is a better recruit because he hit .700 is simply idiotic. Kemmer most likely plays in single A or a private school league. If you dont believe me about the quality of competition just look at Gus Benusa, the San Fransisco Giants 3rd round draft pick last year. Gus played at near by Riverside High School and a AA program, he played first base while batting .342 with 4 homeruns. Pretty similar to Nikithser I'd say. If I were you I wouldn't prematurely judge recruits. I am an associate head scout for a prominent american league team and Nikithser is drawing much attention from many major league clubs because of his size, power, work ethic, athleticism, and raw talent. High school players that are 6'5 230 lbs that hit like brice, throw 94 mph from the outfield, and run 6.51 60's are extremely rare to say the least. Just to put it in perspective Carl Crawfords fastest recorded 60 is 6.42. I've seen Brice play probably a dozen times at various tournements and high school games and he is a PHENOMENAL talent and outstanding young man. Personally, I am flabbergasted that this talented of a player slipped through the cracks to a school like Ohio.  Critics such as yourself should feel blessed that he signed with your school. Although he signed with Ohio,  I wouldnt be suprised to see him start his professional career this summer.

Better get back to scouting instead of wasting time on a website dedicated to a slip through the cracks school.

Also, most people in Ohio are well aware of what good baseball is. To be completely honest, Ohio HS baseball > Pennsylvania HS baseball basically every single year.

Moeller, who would most likely dominate every single PA school you put in front of them, plays at a Crosley Field replica (fences 330-390 give or take) field. They play in a super competitive conference. They had 9 players (see: entire starting lineup) hit over .313. Their power hitter hit .364 with 5 HRs, and he went to Dayton. So for a "scout" to think Ohio is somehow beneath Nikithser is crazy.

Another thing. If you hit .313 in the MAC, you MIGHT make All-MAC depending on your other numbers. So you as a scout basically count this ultra competitive PA HS league as highly as the MAC? Good luck telling your higher up about that. When the premiere team in the state has three D1 players, two of which are going into the MAC, your league is in no way, shape or form a league any talented hitter should only hit .313 in. He might be good, he might be great, but it's for reasons other than that lackluster performance in the spring.

1. Those stats are pathetic and wouldn't even get you on an honorable mention list for a joke city league in Ohio. 

2. If you are 6'5 230 with a 6.51 and throw 95, and you went to OU, you must have no baseball skills whatsoever. 

3.  Why on earth is an associate head scout for a AL team doing on this message board?  Obviously you are not being truthful.

4.  450 to CF, and 400 down the lines uh?  I bet the wind blows in all the time too, no batters eye and the sun sets behind the mound.  You have got to be kidding me.  You think those numbers are even close to believable?
