I am kinda PO'd. I opened my ESPN app and see today's games which include: Marshall, Xavier, Kent, Wright State, YSU, Toledo and the like. No OHIO! I guess we do the "live update" crap. Reminds me of the 80's when I struggled to get 105.5 in Z-ville in order listen in on hoop games. Oh well.

In the 1970s from Chesapeake, Ohio, I had a directional antenna on my roof to pick up OHIO games. I guess you and I are real diehards.

I feel you. A friend of mine has a son that pitches for BG so watched BG/Western Carolina. Still want to visit Western Carolina (Larry). Seems very pretty.

Well..45 runs scored against us in (4) games. My first thought to start the year: how many arms we got?

I figured it would take time to build/develop a pitching staff. It is tough to take over a struggling program let alone throwing in the portal and NIL. Pitchers are going to be the QB of the portal. I admit I have no clue on how NIL plays into a sport like baseball and I should. Can't be much money unless you are the likes of LSU, Texas or NC's of the world.

Ted: It has been many decades but I still remember seeing the South for the first time while on my first Spring trip. This hill-jack from Z-ville had never been out of Ohio. Blacksburg, Greensboro, Durham, etc., were awesome. Mountains, sandy coastal plains, and big ass pine trees all are still memorable.

Now that said, it also began to form my personal opinion that Ohio University was and is the greatest place on earth.

Outside of the elite p4 schools there is very little nil money for baseball. I know a kid who had a huge year at an existing p4 school, was a top transfer target for sec schools, and his package came in under 6 figures at the new p4 school. Still a nice deal, but compare that to football where high schoolers are getting 7 figs.

Curious to any documentation to how many and what HS football players are getting 7-figures.

I think you would be surprised, although the ones I know are 4 year deals which surpass 7 figures across 4 years if they stay, not 7 figures per year. Each year they play they get x amount. Off campus housing for family and and flights for family are also now being included as part of packages. It's not sustainable. These are skill players (not O-line etc) going to top 25 programs.

And to think, Portsmouth once lost a title because they moved a family a few miles and gave the father a job at a local business in order to get the son to play football for Portsmouth H.S. That's what I remember about it. I'm sure BTC can fill in all the gory details and correct anything I said that's wrong, but I'm believe I've got the essence of it right.

Bobcats swept at Tenn Tech. My expectations for the season are so extremely low that I'm actually not gonna be upset about this, because all 4 games were competitive. We started with 2 very strong opponents who have been outside playing baseball for a month already and we still have not been run ruled. Considering the horrendous 2025 season and the gutting and coaching change to follow, I will take that.

Freshman Evan Lichtenauer has had a decent start, being thrown into the rotation right off the bat. I am hopeful he can hold down a formidable spot in the rotation. Other freshman Colton Landtiser got his first start this weekend and held his own, and i have to imagine he will be given a chance at grabbing another spot in the rotation.

Aiden Cook (Xavier transfer) was also given 2 starts and been abysmal, 11 walks in 3 2/3, and Luke Bryant hasn't been any better getting hit real hard. If we are going to be at all competitive in the MAC we will have to find a couple more starters out of this staff that can get outs.

At the plate, we are striking out too much and not hitting for power, but taking a good bit of walks or HBP. Cam Bryant, Will Henson and the catcher platoon of Tyler Stack and Dylan Shepherd are doing well.

We'll see if the weather allows this ambitious Dayton/Athens split series this weekend. Seems like we always have good games with Dayton.

We need some good karma for our Green and White right now. Seeing Kent take 2 of 3 from Tennessee was impressive. If a hall pass is due, Coach See and staff get this year from my perspective. Get things back on the tracks in 2026. Get better every week and stay healthy boys.

Cook needs relegated to the midweek starter role. If you can't throw strikes, you simply can't play on the weekends. I've got enough data already to know we will lose every weekend game he starts.

Saturday's game v. UD is a 1 p.m. first pitch with the Ohio basketball team hosting UT at 4 p.m. Forecast is calling for mostly sunny and 65 degrees on the last day of February.
