Sad to report the passing of Mike earlier this month from cancer. He graduated from Trimble in '76 where he started his baseball career. At Ohio he was 1st team all conference in '79 with .424 BA, and .613 slugging percentage. He was drafted by the Yankee organization his Junior year, and played 3 years in their farm system. After being cut he ended up with the Athletes In Action organization at UNC. He, and his brother Mark (OU Baseball 83-87) were true Tomcats, and Bobcats as well as great guys. Mark also passed away from cancer in '19. I had the pleasure of growing up spending a lot of time in the Echstenkamper household, and feel blessed for knowing such a great family and true Bobcats.
