We've flipped the calendar, I am ready for baseball. Still no schedule released. It was released in mid-December last year. I think the hold up is actually the MAC, not Ohio. Hope we will see it next week or so?

We could probably piece together some OOC schedule using others' releases...but I have not taken on that project.

May 14-16 @ Eastern Mich

May 20-24 - MAC Tournament?

MAC is all 11 opponents but get 1 more road series and some of the tougher ones on the road. 3 of our 5 home series are probably the 3 worst in the conference (Akron, NIU, Umass).

Out of conference seems fine, Murray State is a very tough start and Tenn Tech also not easy. The home & aways with nearby teams all make a ton of sense. The random game up in Ann Arbor in the last week of the season is a little odd. Also the first time I can remember not playing Ohio State in a long time.

Seeing Michigan on the schedule reminds me of this famous former Michigan baseball player, the man generally recognized as the first African American to play major league baseball (it's not Jackie Robinson):

Was very surprised to not see the buckeyes on the slate. Especially given See's background. Wonder what happened there?

Very underwhelming schedule IMO. Not sure how much the schedule influences recruits these days but this ain't it.

I'm on the record with my opinion on scheduling big time SEC/ACC opponents but I'd like to see at least a series with someone that the team can get excited about. Balling on a budget seems to be the theme this year.

Edit - I completely forgot Murray State was a CWS team last year. It'll be interesting to see how they fare this year as I imagine the portal was probably not kind to them after that exposure to bigger programs.

Like this schedule better than some of the last few. We also are coming off a bad run of several seasons. Got to start somewhere.

I do think that being budget conscious is a big issue. I still don't get the UMASS addition to the MAC. That trip is the furthest by far and likely the most costly. I do like the schedule with some good new additions to the non-conference with weekend series vs. both Murray State & Tennessee Tech & 2 games mid-week I am guessing during spring break vs. Austin Peay. Not a fan of the Morehead State games as their stadium is a total joke and would like to see them replace them. I am guessing they threw in the Michigan mid-week since they are out of school and a good test to see how they look later in the season vs. a strong opponent. I don't think they have played OSU since 2019. Suspecting that See wants to build his team a bit more before playing OSU or any ACC/SEC caliber for 3 game series. Will be interesting to see who ends up being a player as they have 17 transfers, 12 returners & 11 freshman by my last count.

That, plus Ohio is at Eastern Michigan, just down the road from Ann Arbor, for a 3-game set starting a couple of days later.

They were scheduled last year but it was cancelled. Same in 2020 with Covid. But you are right, I apparently forgot they had fallen off scheduling each other 21-23. Before that it was every year forever.
