Crucial loss right off the bat, 6-8 to lowly NIU at home. J Tate struggled walking 5. 3 outs away from evening it up in game 2. Win Sunday and I suppose you can't be too upset about winning any series. G Antle did get hits in both games (HR in game 1) and extends his season long hit streak.

Is the 3rd game of the series today Saturday, or whenever the weather will let us play?

Bobcats lose 6-1 on Sunday and drop the series to NIU. NIU wasn't just last place last season, they were on an island of their own in last place 7 full games back of 2nd to last. They won 2 conference road games all last season.

You hate to call it a catastrophic start to the season, but yeah...it's pretty bad.

A few weeks ago I was channel surfing and happened to catch the last three innings of a game between NIU and Cincinnati. NIU won that game 6-4, and didn't look too bad in doing so. I think it was the only game in the series that they won. NIU had one pitcher who had an extremely fast fastball, but he was wild. He was either throwing strikes or wild pitches, but with no one on base, the WPs didn't really hurt them. I do not remember the pitcher's name, but he looked to me to have an MLB fastball. if he could improve his control, he might be a real prospect. I didn't get to see any of our home series against NIU, so I don't know if this dude pitched or not.

Well the starter who shut us down yesterday was 0-3 going in with an ERA over 10.

No worries, we had a great midweek matchup with Morehead State today to help get us right.

Got absolutely smoked yesterday.

Bobcats make up for losing the NIU series by winning the Kent series. After playing arguably the best and arguably the worst, I suppose 3-3 is accecptable.

True Freshman Trey Barkman pitched a 1-2-3 inning against Morehead St for his debut, his only appearance thus far. Until today, where they decided to give him a start vs Northern Kentucky. His outing went like this...

Walk
Error pickoff attempt
Walk
Wild Pitch
Walk
Hit by Pitch
Walk

After the pitching change, a groundout and a reach on error made it 5-0 before NKU recorded a hit. It is now 8-1 after 1.

Another brutal mid-week game.

Lost the first two to Ball State, not much been working so far, bats or arms.

Swept. At 4-8, it is already looking like an uphill climb to the Tourney. The schedule isn't exactly getting much easier.

Swept at Western. Bats have really cooled off.

At this point we just hope for some development of returners and try to pick up a few wins along the win. MAC tourney ain't gonna happen.

Bobcats take 2 of 3 against Toledo, which makes 4 out of 5 against solid competition. Definitely a bright spot in a dark season, if they can keep up the winning baseball it will be good progress going into next year.

Big test this weekend at Virginia Tech, I think you just hope to not get run ruled and maybe try to sneak one out.

Not that anyone in the MAC is killing it in attendance, but we are apparently dead last.

Considering the lack of competition for sports eyeballs in the area, nice stadium, decent attendance at Copperheads games, this is surprising.

Copperheads has always been #1 for locals, not sure why but they love it. Games aren't super competitive but they do a lot of promotions/gimmicky things that must draw the attention. Assuming weather has a lot to do with it.

164...yikes. My son's HS team might draw more than that.

With the numbers being so paper thin between top and bottom I do wonder if the counting methods are consistent. Do we count support staff? Is our stadium easy to break into and avoid the gate? Are we not counting students?
